This resource listing was first published in 1990 with funding from the Loddon Campaspe Regional Reference Group of the Specialist Child & Family Services Programme (SCAFS).
The second edition in 1996 was once again a joint venture between the original auspice of the directory, FOCDSG and the HACC Access Programme (auspiced by GCR&SS now known as GCSS – Golden City Support Services), with the majority of the time volunteered by Christine Scott who was then employed within the HACC Access Programme.
This third edition has been a project of many, and we thank you all for your time & commitment to seeing this much sought after project through to completion.
This Directory is meant to be a doorway for people who use services (frail, elderly, people with disabilities & their families) and also for workers, students and service providers, into the ‘system’ otherwise known to those who use it as ‘the maze’. It thus only provides enough information about each service to enable a way into a potential service.
Copyright – Sections of this directory may be reproduced in line with the intention of providing information to services, users, or workers, provided that the source is acknowledged.
HELPFUL NOTES
ALL ENTRIES Were correct as of August 2002
ASTERISKS - ##
Any listing marked by an asterisk - ## - indicates that the service is not ‘ physically’ located in the Loddon Mallee Region. This means that the service either borders on the edge of the Region, or has its base in Melbourne for example, but the service is still available to people in this Region.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Eligibility criteria such as age, ‘type’ of disability or locality may apply to many of the specialist services (ie those services who specifically cater for people with disabilities). So one of your first questions to ask is " Who can you use the service?"
FORMAT OF LISTINGS
A General Listing......e.g.
## RVIB- Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind
Contact: Leisure Resource Officer
557 St. Kilda Road FREECALL 1800 335 588
Melbourne 3004 ph. 9529 3544
Listings are cross-referenced where they provide more than one type of service. Thus, the address is not repeated every time that the service appears only the contact and phone number.
e.g: from ‘Statewide Services’ section
## R.V.I.B. – Royal Institute for the Blind
MAIN see ‘Recreation Section’ for details FREECALL 1800 335 588
INDEX
The Index is also your guide to finding what your are looking for,i.e. it includes topics, as well as services. It also includes the abbreviated titles that services sometimes go by, e.g. – P.A.D.P, so if you can’t find what you are looking for by using the Sections, try the index.
NB:
You will find NB in listings which are intended to convey some information about the service and / or clarify an important point, but it is not intended to provide full details of what, who and how, only a ‘doorway’.
TELEPHONE NUMBERS - are business or office contacts unless otherwise denoted by ( P ) , meaning it is a home phone number which should be noted by potential consumers.
